Someone suggested lifting the arm that drops the second record, and moving it out of the way; that was the culprit. There was a mechanism that prevented it from playing with that down. Of course, I had to naturally celebrate with some Louie Louie.

Unfortunately, the sole speaker that came with it, doesn’t work... so I plugged in my bass amp instead, until I get some real speakers at least. It did the job pretty decently. The volume knob on the amp made balancing the sound output annoying.

Kinja'd!!!

I got a lot of records to listen; at least 30+ I think.

Kinja'd!!!

Through the headphone jack because why not?

Kinja'd!!!

Not sure if I’ll keep it all. So many records!

Next up is find some time to listen to the “The Big Sounds of the Drags!”. :D

Thanks then! Also, what the if it seems this one works pretty good already? Should I still look into replacing it?

That arm is the enabling technology for the analog version of the playlist. Put a small stack of records on top, secure them with the arm, then let it run. When a record is finished, the tone arm should move out of the way, the next record should drop, then the tone arm should move into place and start playing. A record can be skipped with a manual switch.

The mechanism may be broken on yours.

Definitely! Now I get to listen to old recordings of classical music. #priorities.

I found a guy on craiglist who sold me something like 275 records for $25. mostly motown that I will never listen to, but a lot of good classic rock in there, as well. i’m happy cleaning and sorting and listening. just have to get rid of all that crap i don’t want...

Well, since it works, I’m not complaining since I got everything for free. :)

Now you need a stack of 8-tracks to fill that hole in the front.

I would. I guarantee you will notice a difference in sound quality. This is if you plan on using it extensively. If it is more an occasional nostalgia use type of thing...don’t worry about it.

It came with a few already, only artist I recognized was the Beatles and... Tina Turner I think?

Some like the Tina. Some don’t.

Be careful which you choose. She runs Thunderdome.

It’s cool, just not my bag. Are you close-ish to Dayton? I got a couple of boxes for you...

There was a long series of “Sounds of Sebring” records in the 50s and 60s, when sound effects hi-fi stuff was popular. I don’t think they are too hard to find- get some to add to that drag record.

Even though my wife told me no, I can’t wait to bring home one of her dad’s old turntables and listen to some of his collection that we inherited when he passed while I catalog it all.

Nice! Despite going through the records previously, when I went through them again last night, I saw a few I didn’t recognize. These so many! Lol.

Yeah I’m coming across a lot of 60's and 70's bands I know of, but SO MANY bands I’ve never heard of.

Then there’s gems like this:
